Our grandparents settled in Finca La Manchuria since the beginning of the 20th century, and began to grow coffee. Since then, it has been a beautiful legacy of the Vélez family.
It is currently directed by Armelle and Eduardo Vélez, who, after living 40 years in France and Mexico, returned to Colombia to develop an Agro-Tourism project, which opened its doors to national and foreign visitors who today enjoy our coffee mastery, while visiting the authentic coffee zone of Colombia.
"La Manchuria"
We currently have about 100 employees, all affiliated with the Colombian social security system. We have trained our staff to be expert collaborators who are aware of their work, which is vital for the quality of our specialty coffee.
Another commitment is to ensure the well-being of the families of our collaborators, providing physical and virtual connectivity to their children so that they can continue with their schooling. In addition, we help in the improvement of housing for the entire staff.
We have comfortable and modern facilities with the capacity to receive more than 200 coffee pickers in harvest season, this allows us to humanize your stay, guaranteeing a better quality of life and loyalty of our staff

We are committed to the well-being and development of our community, being pioneers in the region of good practices in
equity and agricultural sustainability.
In the same way, we take care of the environment by developing processes that minimize the environmental footprint, guaranteeing the traceability of a sustainable and friendly coffee.
Among the social actions that we develop, there is support for generational change, professionalizing the young people of our sector in all phases of the development of innovation coffee, such as post-harvest, roasting and preparation.
Also, we support the adults who pass on to us the knowledge acquired throughout their lives dedicated to cultivating the Earth.
This synergy translates into the ideal complement between professionalism and experience that guarantee the success of our products.
We work to improve the quality of life of our Community with actions such as road maintenance, support for the improvement of their homes, the development of virtual connectivity.
Our 90-hectare coffee reserve is surrounded by 135 hectares of native forest and 80 hectares of pine forest, with which we mitigate 5,400 tons of CO2 annually.
In addition, these forests are the fabric of a large amount of water (600 lt / S) that supply, not only our needs, but also those of the surrounding communities, allowing us to maintain our waters, local flora and fauna.
Looking for the natural balance, we installed more than 100 bee hives that guarantee excellent pollination and regional agricultural production.
Our coffee is grown in alternation with bananas to mitigate the use of chemical inputs and produce our products in a more natural way. Our 50,000 banana plants condense about 3 million liters of water a year, returning this resource to the mountains.
Our innovative coffee processes allow us to reduce water consumption by 80%, and we process all production residues as organic fertilizers.
Since 2009, we started a reforestation project planting 85,000 trees, which guarantee biological corridors for the local fauna.
We have plants to treat both drinking water and wastewater and return them to the stream with regenerative parameters
Now that Colombia is opening its doors to tourism, and to publicize the culture of Coffee in Colombia and our beautiful mountains, we have developed an agro-tourism project with 2 boutique hotels located in the heart of our Coffee Reserve:
Finca El Diamante Hotel Boutique & Finca La Manchuria
Our guests will be able to take a complete Coffee Tour, living closely and knowing each step to enjoy a true coffee of origin. From the seed to the cup, including the Coffee Fabric and roasting processes, through its history and development.
An authentic and exclusive experience to enjoy Nature and the beauty of our landscapes.
Our Arabica Coffee plots of varietals - Castillo, Catuay, Castillo Centro, Tabi y Gesha, Borbón Rosado and other exotic varietals that are under development, allow us to offer specialty coffee, respecting the principles of the Rainforest Alliance certification, guaranteeing the traceability of each one of them from our plantation to the consumer's cup.
Café La Manchuria is a high altitude Arabica Coffee grown between 1,600 and 2,000 meters above sea level, nestled high in the mountains, bathed by the cold currents that are generated between the" Farallones del Citará" and the "Cerro Plateado" in the western mountain range of the Andes Cordillera, regulated by the breezes of the Pacific Ocean and the vegetation that surrounds it, generating a sustainable and friendly coffee favoring its excellent balance in the cup.
We use all plant by-products to transform them into organic fertilizers and soil conditioners, with which we manage to bring water pollution to zero.

The roasting process is carried out in the facilities of our Coffee Reserve, which complies with all quality standards and national and international regulations.
The threshing and selection module is MAGRA N 200 brand and the toaster is a QUANTIk 25,000, with which the most consistent roasting curves are made to highlight the qualities of our Coffee, according to the profiles that our customers
required for a specific market.
For each batch of roasting is made a minimum of 5 curves to define the one that gives the best cup result. After the roasting process, it is degassed in sealed containers that do not allow the entry of oxygen, but the exit of the gases. After this process, it is vacuum packed with a MSA200 baler
Our Coffee Factory guarantees excellent cup quality, complies with international standards, and has the capacity to process 100% of our production without suffering alterations.
We are pioneers in process innovation and coffee stabilization. We have staff expert in fermentation who know how to exploit the benefits of our Coffee.
The result is a balanced coffee, with a great diversity of flavors and notes that make our process unique. We can achieve sweet, vinous, chocolate coffees among other profiles. We are characterized by safety and responsibility in each of our processes.
The drying of our Coffee is done slowly, thus, its attributes in the cup are preserved.
In none of our processes do we use fossil fuels, as these alter the quality of the fruit. Packing and packaging are done in suitable places and conditioned to guarantee the quality of the product.
